In 2000, Lynn Elliott, from the UK established an orphanage in Moshi, Tanzania to help care for the estimated 19,000 orphans in this region. Light in Africa is a non-profit organization that cares for the sick, abandoned and handicapped children in this region. Light of Africa provides medical assistance to abandoned children and to village people in this area.
In Africa, when the poor are sick and have no money, they have two options: they either get better on their own or die. FFCC provides the much needed food used to feed the children living at the orphanage and delivered to the surrounding villages in need.
How can you help? You can provide a monthly donation of $25 that helps provide food, clothing, medical care, and assistance to a child living in Light of Africa Orphanage. For more information contact Phil Harris at philffcc@san.rr.com and make plans to join us when we travel in January and June of each year to deliver and distribute food throughout the Moshi Region.

Tanzania has hundreds of small children roaming the streets looking for shelter and food to survive. Most of these young children have been abandoned by families, who simply can not support them, or their parents have died of AIDS or other disease and they are left fending for themselves.
In the process of FFCC building a food distribution center for these children in Singida, the Commissioner of the region asked if we would look into the possibility of having American families adopt some of these beautiful, but unfortunate children.
The FFCC team (including a group of fabulous local teens) has taken a serious interest in this venture. We have met with the Commissioner's Aid and discussed the existing laws of Tanzania and the modifications that would be necessary for American families to adopt a child or multiple children from this country. We have written new laws for the Commissioner and the courts in Tanzania to consider. These laws were necessary as Tanzania had no international adoption laws on the books. In fact, there had only been one adoption out side of Tanzania in the Singida region.
How can you help? It would be wonderful if others would join forces with us and dig into the challenge of both creating a body of acceptable international laws for Tanzania and assisting in verifying that the laws would be acceptable in the United States. Patience and time are the required ingredients, but the more people we have the better.
