Homeless Outreach
FFCC provides food, clothing, and hygiene kits to our homeless community throughout the year.  FFCC volunteers travel downtown to the Salvation Army building on the 1st Monday evening of each month to prepare a meal and serve the homeless.  Join us from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at 825 Seventh Ave, SD 92101.  There is parking behind the Salvation Army building off of 8th Street.  If the parking gate is locked, drive around the block to the front of the building and notify the gatekeeper that you need the back gate opened and they will help.

We encourage our volunteers to not come empty handed.  During the winter months, especially, please help by bringing some of the following with you:
  • Hygiene kits: Ziploc bags with items such as socks, water bottle, tooth brush, tooth paste, granola bar, disposable razor, etc.
  • Clothing: sweatshirts, jackets, underwear, sun hats (Note: larger size men's clothing are always appreciated, e.g., size 40+)
  • Blankets
  • Case of water bottles
  • Sunscreen, umbrellas
  • An item that you have enjoyed that you can share with a homeless friend (e.g., a book you’ve recently read, your favorite card game)

Senior Outreach

On the 4th Tuesday of each month, FFCC teams up with the San Diego Food Bank and Salvation Army to distribute food to low income adult seniors living in downtown San Diego.  The distribution of these commodity boxes is done at the Salvation Army building at 825 Seventh Ave, SD 92101 from 9:00am to 12:00pm.  Bring your children and join us as we care for our adult seniors.

FFCC volunteers also provide love and support to local adult seniors living in assisted living centers.  Contact Janice McKalson (jmckalson@yahoo.com) for more information.
