A Meaningful Summer Adventure

The best part of summer are the road trips... open roads and lots of adventure! FFCC is preparing to embark on a very special road trip and there is still room if you would like to JOIN US.

On Monday morning, June 29th, FFCC will head east on the interstate 8 and travel 545 miles to Winslow, Arizona. Our cargo will be much needed food, water, PPE, medication, tents, tools, diapers, hygiene items and toys and books for the children of Navajo Nation. COVID-19 continues to rage on the reservation with one of the highest infection rates in the country. Our contact from the Navajo Nation will travel two hours from the reservation town of Chinli to meet us in Winslow. There we will deliver our gifts which will be distributed back on the reservation to those in great need.

We are so grateful to our FFCC community for ALL of your generous donations. To date, we have raised over $4,000, in addition to the in-kind donations that have been provided. There is still time if you would like to contribute. Here are some items that are still needed:

  • Instant Oatmeal
  • Raisins
  • Lysol wipes
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Bars of soap

A great family activity could be to make handmade cards with words of encouragement for our Navajo neighbors. Your cards and donations can be dropped off at either the Poway or San Marcos Dream Dinners or contact Tina Socha at tina.socha@ffccsd.org and she will arrange to come and pick up your items. The deadline for in-kind donations is Friday, June 26th.

Financial donations are also welcome. You can donate online or send your tax-deductible gift to FFCC at the address below. Please note "Navajo Nation" in the memo section of the check or special instruction box if you donate online.

We hope there will be more road trips to Navajo Nation. We will have more to share in the coming days. If the timing of this trip does not work for you but you would like to consider a future trip, send your contact information to Tina Socha and we will reach out with future trip dates.
