"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

Margaret Mead

Tanzania Institute of Accounting (TIA)

In February of 2011, FFCC developed a relationship with the faculty of the University of Tanzania Institute of Accounting (TIA).  One of the primary objectives was to introduce an American university to TIA and share ideas, resources and student interaction. FFCC went back to Southern California, and shared this opportunity with Azusa Pacific University (APU), located in Azusa, California.  The summer of 2011, APU sent eight students to TIA to begin this relationship. The following were some of the outcomes of that first encounter:

    • APU students visited different TIA classes and shared lessons based on the
      student’s

         majors.

    • In the evening the students met together to talk, play games and share life experiences.
    • APU and TIA students volunteered at different community programs in the town of

Singida.  Places like a local children's feeding center for homeless children and a center for blind and disabled women.
