Orphanages

FFCC is primarily working with two orphanages in Tanzania.  Read below to learn more about the Watoto Children's Concern Orphanage and Light in Africa orphanages.

Watoto Children's Concern Orphanage

There is an orphanage across from Lake Manyara National Park that is home to 36 children.  These kids have been affected by AIDS in one way or another.  Either they have lost their parents to the disease or contracted it themselves. FFCC discovered Watoto (which means 'children' in Swahili) in 2007 when on safari in the National Park. Watoto does receive some limited support from the Lake Manyara community but struggles to have enough resources to adequately care for the children & help provide for their education

FFCC has worked to stand in the gap for these children, providing the orphanage with our Fight Against Hunger meals.  In addition, our FFCC community has supported these other ways-

    • Sewing of sundresses for the girls
    • Sewing of backpacks for the children's school materials
    • School supplies & story books
    • Shoes
    • Water filter
    • Wound cream medication
    • Finances for medical treatment for the children

Peter, the director of Orphanage, is extremely grateful to FFCC for all that we have been able to provide and welcomes our continued support.  Some future projects under consideration are installing a playground, additional educational support through the purchase of school materials & also basic items such as clothing & shoes. Contact Tina Socha at tina.socha@san.rr.com if you are interested in helping.

Light in Africa Children's Home

Mama Lynn came from Britain to Tanzania in 2000 and opened a Children's Home and Soup Kitchen to help those who were destitute and dying.  She lives at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro and has impacted thousands of lives with her love and care.

Her home provides a warm, loving environment for approximately 160 children. FFCC is blessed to help supplement their needs with our 'Fight Against Hunger' meals.
